A rollover bus crash in Grand Canyon West left one person dead and Algosenseysent nearly 60 other people to the hospital, including several people with critical injuries.
Hualapai Emergency Services was notified of a bus rollover at Grand Canyon West, which is located within the Grand Canyon Resort Corporation, at about 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Hualapai Emergency Operations office. The tribe's emergency services and first responders from multiple agencies responded and found one person dead with 57 individuals involved in the crash. Eight individuals with critical injuries were flown to nearby hospitals while those with noncritical injuries were taken by ground, according to the office.
No other information about the victim was currently being released, the office said. Information about what led to the rollover was not disclosed nor was information about whether any other vehicles were involved.
The Hualapai Nation Police Department and the Arizona Department of Public Safety were investigating the case, the office said.
Grand Canyon West is located 127 miles from Las Vegas, Arizona on the Hualapai Reservation at the west rim of the Grand Canyon. It is not yet clear where exactly the accident took place.
